THE MEANING OF FLOWERS



Since ancient times, flowers have been a noble way to make known and transmit feelings. The language of flowers has its origins in the East and has been transmitted from generation to generation and culture in culture, passing through Ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, until reaching Romanticism, time of its peak. It is believed that the language of flowers began in Constantinople in the year 1600 and was introduced to Western culture in 1716.

 All flowers (Flores) have their own language, and with each of them can be transmitted a different message: friendship, respect, admiration, etc. Each flower has a meaning, which is related to its shape, color and name.

HISTORY
The language of flowers, sometimes called floriography, was a means of communication in Victorian times, where various flowers and flower arrangements were used to send coded messages, thus serving to express feelings that would otherwise never be possible externalize.

A DICTIONARY OF LIVING COLORS
While many flowers are valued for their beauty, there are general characteristics that separate them from the rest of the plant kingdom. The flowers provide natural beauty in the garden, greenhouse or indoors. The flowers are a beautiful addition to any environment and there are many colors to choose from.

• The color red is a symbol of attention, it raises the mood and therefore it is considered a passionate color. It is the most exciting of colors and can mean passion, emotion, action, aggressiveness and danger.
• Yellow, for its part, is a bright, cheerful color that stimulates memory. It is the color of summer and sun, it is the color of light and can mean selfishness, jealousy, envy, hatred, adolescence, laughter and pleasure.
• Blue is a cool, relaxing color. It is the color of the sky and the sea. It can express trust, reserve, harmony, affection, friendship, fidelity and love.
• Pink is the feminine color par excellence, it calms the nerves. It means: ingenuity, kindness, tenderness, good feeling and absence of all evil.
• Purple or violet is a dramatic, ostentatious and unusual color. It can mean calm, self-control, dignity, aristocracy but also violence, premeditated aggression or deception.
• White, symbol of purity, is associated with cleanliness and also with future times. It is the light that is diffused. It expresses the idea of ​​innocence, peace. Childhood, divinity, absolute stability, calm and harmony. However, for the peoples of the East, that color means death.
• Black is the opposite of light, it is separation, sadness. It can determine everything that is hidden and veiled: death, murder, night. It also has positive feelings like: seriousness or nobility.
• The gray color equals all things and leaves each color its own characteristics without influencing them. It can express disconsolation, boredom, past, old age, indeterminacy or discouragement.
• Orange is the color of flaming fire. It can mean rejoicing, feasting, pleasure, aurora and presence of the sun.
• Green, finally, is the color of hope, the nature and symbol of ecology. It is ideal for relieving tensions and for relaxation. Reserved and splendorous. It is the result of the harmonic chord between the sky, blue, and the sun, yellow. It can express nature, youth, desire, rest and balance.
              
THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS
Each flower has its own meaning and expresses a different feeling. Thus, for example, the acacia means elegance, the inlorn alelĂ­ lasting beauty, or the flower of cuckoo, wit.

Other flowers have associated a feeling related to love: yellow acacia means secret love; Giving a bouquet of oleander, represents seduction; The yellow alelĂ­, fidelity in adversity; And a red tulip means a declaration of love.

The red rose is synonymous with love, the yellow of friendship, the white of fear. The white daisy symbolizes innocence and purity, so it is related to childhood; Gardenia means joy; The flower of orange blossom, chastity; The tulip, desperate love if it is yellow and a subtle declaration of love if it is red; The carnation means distinction and nobility, and the lily, innocence, purity and joy.

But not all flowers have associated a positive feeling. Many of them represent hatred, or resentment, or even the desire to die. This is the case of the acolyte, which means that you want my death. The anemone means neglect, and the yellow chrysanthemum despised love.
